Complicated stamped pottery dominates Late Mississippian (AD 1300-1580) ceramic assemblages on the Georgia coast. The most prolific design is the filfot cross, which is symmetrical and comprised of four basic elements. Although the overall filfot design does not change, the basic elements can differ to create unique combinations that can be used to track filfot variation and paddles.
