This is an abstract from the "Frontier and Settlement Archaeology" session, at the 2019 annual meeting of the Society for Historical Archaeology. Our excavations at the El Progreso Hacienda in the Galapagos are working towards an understanding of this remote late 19th century sugar plantation, and its use of criminals and vagrants for part of the workforce.
