This is an abstract from the "SAA 2023: Individual Abstracts" session, at the 88th annual meeting of the Society for American Archaeology. In 1949, a master’s student at the University of Arizona, Barton Wright, undertook the first salvage excavation project at Catclaw Cave in anticipation of the construction of Davis Dam.
