Ground Stone Analysis (Other Keyword)
26-30 (30 Records)
Desert Archaeology, Inc., conducted data recovery at the Silverbell Golf Course, Tucson, Pima County, Arizona, in anticipation of renovations to the golf course. The work was undertaken in 2005, at two known archaeological sites within the project area: AZ AA:12:93 (ASM) and AZ AA:12:95 (ASM), as well as in an interstitial area between the two sites. During data recovery, two additional archaeological sites were encountered — AZ AA:12:980 (ASM), a Historic era ditch identified previously, and AZ...
Technical Analysis of Hohokam Stone Palettes from Pueblo Grande Museum (2016)
In a graduate seminar on flaked and ground stone analysis, Payson Sheets emphasized the importance of experimental replication of production techniques for lithic analysis. In this study, I build upon the work of another of Payson's students, Devin White, who analyzed Hohokam palettes in the collections at Arizona State Museum in Tucson, and apply his methods to the analysis of palettes at Pueblo Grande Museum in Phoenix. In addition, I attempt to replicate some of the techniques used in the...
Testing Results and a Proposed Treatment Plan for Further Work on the Thompson Draw FLEX Project in Tonto National Forest, Gila County, Arizona (2001)
Test excavations were conducted at six sites to determine their National Register eligibility, prior to a land exchange. Three of the sites, AR-03-12-04-1397/AZ 0:12:81 (ASM), AR-03 -12-04-1403/AZ 0:12:82 (ASM), and AR-03-12-04-1521/AZ 0:12:85 (ASM), demonstrated low overall artifact density, small site size and an absence of subsurface features, and are therefore recommended as ineligible for National Register consideration. AR-03-12-04-13 85/AZ 0:12:80 (ASM) and AR-03-12-04-1449/AZ 0:12:83...
