A stacked mortar and pestle were recovered during archaeological monitoring of fuel line removal at CA-CCO-283, located along San Francisco Bay, California. Both the mortar and pestle were washed for pollen and possible protein residues. Fill within the mortar was examined for macrofloral remains and served as a control for the pollen and protein residue washes.
