This introduction presents the results of an archaeological and historical site assessment survey conducted by the Florida Division of Archives, History and Records Management within the Lower Hillsborough River Flood Detention Area. The locales surveyed consisted of seven proposed recreation resource sites within the larger area which is located about seven miles northeast of Tampa in Hillsborough County, Florida.
