This paper makes use of an in-depth analysis of cultural remains at the Hogsback site (48UT2516), an Archaic housepit site in southwestern Wyoming (see Figure 1), to explore a set of issues relating to hunter-gatherer mobility in the Archaic era. This site, which was reoccupied successively and almost continuously over a period of at least 4,000 years, provides an ample data set against which to discuss such topics as changing settlement patterns and subsistence strategies.
