Twenty-two pre-military historic sites were documented, oral interviews were conducted, and archival research produced a wealth of information, including old photographs and homestead records. A total of 7,284 acres was included in this inventory, including HAFB properties on the North Area, and Tularosa Peak on the Main Base, and Boles Wells Water System Annex. A total of 34 previously unrecorded archaeological sites was documented. Twenty-five of the newly discovered properties are attributable to prehistoric activities. Between November 1995 and June 1996, Geo-Marine, Inc., personnel conducted a cultural resources survey of 15,955 acres of Holloman Air Force Base (HAFB) administered properties in the Tularosa Basin, Otero County, New Mexico. The portion of the study area described in this report comprises approximately 11,565 acres and is located on the Main Base portion of HAFB in an environment dominated by gypsum sand dunes. The project is not associated with a planned undertaking.
