Site HaRl-4, the Rocky Mountain Portage House, which is part of a North West Company fort and trading outpost occupied between approximately 1805 and 1814, is located approximately 75m southeast of the Peace River near its confluence with Maurice Creek. PROTEIN RESIDUE AND AMS RADIOCARBON ANALYSIS OF SAMPLES FROM HbRi-33 AND HaRl-4, BRITISH COLUMBIA (2020)
Sites HaRl-4 and HbRi-33 are located on terraces overlooking the Peace River. Site HbRi-33 is situated to the northeast of the confluence of the Halfway and Peace Rivers, while HaRl-4 lies near the confluence of Maurice Creek and the Peace River. Each of these sitescontained flaked lithics and charred material (either charcoal or burnt/calcined bones) for AMS radiocarbon dating.
