An archeological reconnaissance of the Bull Creek Reservoir area was undertaken by the Missouri Basin Project, Smithsonian Institution in June 1951. The field party consisted of Franklin Fenenga, archeologist, and Frederick H. West, assistant. Dr. Theodore E.
