Stratigraphic pollen samples were collected from sediments at 48SU1041, the Pine Creek Site, to examine the past vegetation intermittently over the past approximately 4100 years. This site is located at the base of the Wind River Mountains along the shores of Fremont Lake. In addition, a piece of groundstone was washed to recover possible pollen and/or starch evidence of use. Protein residue analysis was conducted on five bone fragments from the Pine Creek site, 48SU1041, in west-central Wyoming. These bone fragments are believed to represent large artiodactyls such as moose, elk, or bison. The bones were submitted for protein residue analysis to determine if they could be further refined into the bison or moose/elk category.
