The project consists of replacement of a water main and selected fire hydrants. Ground disturbance within the project area consisted of the excavation of trenches and pits of various lengths, widths, and depths. Excavation was conducted mechanically with backhoes and by hand with shovels and picks. During the course of the project, three areas that were recommended for monitoring were excavated and backfilled by the contractor without prior notification to Jacobs.
