This document is a detailed 1896 report by Cosmos Mindeleff regarding the entire Casa Grande Ruins. Cosmos Mindeff reported on the stabilization and preservation activities at Casa Grande Ruins in 1891 in the Thirteenth Annual Report of the Bureau of Ethnology. This work is the first known incident of the federal government actively preserving a prehistoric site. Casa Grande Ruins was established as the first cultural preserve the following year in 1892. Additional documents within this project include maps, correspondence, and references related to this work.

This report discusses the repairs done to the Casa Grande Ruin in 1891. There are various pictures and a topographical map of the Great House in Compound A. Mendeleff discusses the condition of the Ruins and his vision for repair including metal rods and wooden beams for the stabilization of the south wall. There is also an inventory of artifacts found at the site.
