In early 1999 Southern Research completed an archaeological resources reconnaissance survey of the Fort McAllister State Historic Site for the Georgia Department of Natural Resources. This examination of approximately 1700 acres, which is located in rural Bryan County, Georgia on a series of marsh islands in the Ogeechee River delta, identified seven archaeological sites and one isolated find.
