This dataset contains compositional (elemental abundance) and descriptive data for a total of 127 ceramic specimens from Italy, analyzed by the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL). These data were generated by neutron activation analysis (NAA) at LBNL between the late 1960s and early 1990s. The Calabria Site in Fremont, California is a habitation site that contains a large, moderately disturbed midden and several burials. A flower pot mortar, located above the right arm of Burial 15, was sampled for pollen and starch analyses. This mortar is typical of the Augustine Period.

These images show the individual sherds from Rome, Italy analyzed by neutron activation at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL). Photographs were taken at LBNL and scanned by the Archaeometry Laboratory at MURR. Individual files were named according to the official catalog numbers of each image assigned by the Graphic Arts Department at LBNL.
