This is an abstract from the "Working on the 19th-Century" session, at the 2019 annual meeting of the Society for Historical Archaeology. This paper focuses on the everyday lives of the Islanders on Great Blasket in County Kerry, Ireland. Particular attention is paid to the juxtaposition of economic class, gender, and improvisation during the Famine and Post-Famine periods.
