Description | Comment field. Free text to describe the modification. Many are coded. For burning w=white colour. For gnawing the area of bone, the gnawing animal (DG=dog) and the level of gnawing on a scale of 1 to 3 is recorded. For butchery Ch=Chopped, KN=knife, KW= kitchen waste, very heavily butchered fragments. SP=split down sagittal plane, SW=Sawn, TR=split transversely, WO=worked. The number will be the number of marks and part codes are also used. So "P Ch 3" = Proximal end chopped three times. "D DG 1"= distal end gnawed slightly by dog | |||||
