Archaeological Reconnaissance and Subsurface Testing of Proposed Boathouse Project Site at Bellows Air Force Base, Oahu, Hawai`i

Author(s): Thomas J. Riley

Year: 1980

Summary

The Department of Anthropology, Bernice P. Bishop Museum, conducted archaeological testing for subsurface remains at the proposed boathouse, Bellows Air Force station, O'ahu, from April 1 to 15, 1980. The testing included 111 patterned auger borings and the excavation of ten 1-by-1 meter test squares across the site of the boathouse. Although archaeological features were noted, neither the borings nor the test excavations encountered signs of significant pre-European or early historic occupation.
