Summary

Seven sites in the Nanakuli Valley were examined for pollen and/or

phytoliths. These sites consisted of complexes of terraces, mounds, clearings,

and platforms that constituted permanent habitations, agricultural terraces, or

religious features. Pollen and phytolith analysis was undertaken to identify

local vegetation and also assist in determining land-use patterns and

establishing prehistoric vegetation.
