POLLEN AND MACROFLORAL ANALYSIS AT A MULTICOMPONENT CAMP/BUTCHERING SITE'(48NA1060), NATRONA COUNTY, WYOMING

Author(s): Linda Scott Cummings

Year: 1990

Summary

Pollen and macrofloral samples were collected from The Dry Creek Site

(48NA1060), a very extensive open camp located on Dry Creek in central

Wyoming. This multicomponent camp/butchering site exhibited a large number

of unlined cobble-filled hearths, abundant fire-cracked rock, and large

amounts of debitage. Pollen samples were collected stratigraphically to

assess past vegetation and paleoenvironmental conditions. In addition,

pollen and/or macrofloral samples were collected from five features. These

samples were analyzed to provide information concerning local plants that

might have been processed at this site.
