POLLEN ANALYSIS OF GROUND STONE FROM SBA-993, CALIFORNIA

Author(s): Linda Scott Cummings

Year: 1991

Summary

Five manos, one metate, several groundstone fragments, and a donutshaped

stone were washed for pollen from SBa-993. Pollen analysis was

conducted solely to identify elements of the local vegetation that were

processed using these tools. To provide controls for these interpretations,

two soil samples from the present ground surface and one soil sample beneath

ground stone fragments were examined for their pollen content. These sam

ples provide an indication of pollen rain to be expected as a result of

local and regional pollen transport.
