Author(s): Linda Scott Cummings
Year: 1993
Summary
A second upper left molar of a female mammoth was obtained to wash for
phytoliths to determine plants incorporated in this mammoth's diet. The tooth
has been curated at the Denver Museum of Natural History, and had been coated
with a layer of varnish. The varnish was removed and the tooth washed to obtain
a phytolith record trapped in the tartar of this tooth.
