POLLEN AND MACROFLORAL ANALYSIS AT SITE 48SW7935, WASHAKIE BASIN, WYOMING

Summary

Site 48SW7935 is one of three sites in southern Wyoming involved in data

recovery for the Questar Pipeline Coipany Skull Creek Pipeline. Excavations at

this site uncovered two hearth features that were sanpled for pollen and

macrofloral remains. An uncorrected radiocarbon. date of 5210 + 100 BP was

obtained frem.Feature 5, suggesting an Early Archaic occupation. Pollen and

macrofloral analysis is used to provide subsistence information at this site.

In addition, a modern surface soil sample was collected to provide a control for

interpreting pollen samples from the features.
