POLLEN ANALYSIS OF THREE SAMPLES FROM LECHUGUILLA CAVE, CARLSBAD CAVERNS NATIONAL PARK, EDDY COUNTY, NEW MEXICO

Author(s): Linda Scott Cummings

Year: 1993

Summary

Three pollen samples were examined from Lechuguilla Cave to identify

prehistoric vegetation in the vicinity of this cave. Samples 2A and 2B were

collected from an area that should have produced Pleistocene guano samples, but the material appears to represent primarily debris, rather than guano. Sample

1 was collected from an area that may contain Pleistoene or early Holocene

sediments.
