Author(s): Linda Scott Cummings

Year: 1993

Summary

Peat and gleyed clay samples from two trenches were examined for both

pollen and macrofloral remains from 50-30-03-1027 in the Hanalei Valley on the

north side of Kaua'i. These analyses were directed toward the recovery of

evidence to indicate prehistoric vegetation and possibly confirm taro

cultivation. Radiocarbon ages reported for the peat range from 4340-4040 BC to

1800-1600 BC.
