POLLEN AND MACROFLORAL ANALYSIS OF FIREPIT FILL AT SITE 5AM631, AURORA, COLORADO
Author(s): Kathryn Puseman; Linda Scott Cummings
Year: 1993
Summary
Test excavations at Site 5AM631 uncovered a buried firepit (Feature L) that
was sampled for pollen and macrofloral remains. This site contained both
historic and prehistoric components. The prehistoric component consists of a
lithic debitage, groundstone, and ceramic scatter, as well as cultural features
visible on the surface. Ceramics and projectile points suggest a Plains Woodland
occupation. Pollen and macrofloral analyses are used to provide information
concerning foods processed in this firepit.
