Author(s): Kathryn Puseman

Year: 1994

Summary

Samples from two test units placed inside a rockshelter (PY-060) on the

South Fork of the Salmon River in central Idaho were examined for macrofloral

remains. Soil from the rock shelter fill yielded a radiocarbon date of 840 + 40

BP, suggesting a Late Prehistoric occupation. Late Prehistoric projectile points

were also found. Macrofloral analysis is used to provide information concerning

plants that were utilized by the rock shelter inhabitants, as well as the season

of occupation.
