POLLEN AND MACROFLORAL ANALYSIS FROM THE EWA COMMUNITY PROJECT, OAHU

Author(s): Kathryn Puseman; Linda Scott Cummings

Year: 1994

Summary

Pollen and macrofloral samples were examined from six sites and from a core

for the Ewa Marina Community Project. These samples represent a stratigraphic

core from a wetland area, and bulk pollen and macrobotanical samples from six

sites. The bulk samples represent subsurface feature deposits (primarily

hearths/ash lenses) and constant volume samples from layers within enclosures and possible habitation or agricultural features. Pollen and macrobotanical analyses were aimed at providing information concerning plant use at each of the

habitation sites. Two cores were examined previously from the wetland area

(Cummings 1990) .
