POLLEN AND MACROFLORAL ANALYSIS AT IHE PERRY MESA SITE, NA11,602, IN CENTRAL ARIZONA

Author(s): Linda Scott Cummings; Kathryn Puseman

Year: 1994

Summary

Samples from a roasting/cooking area at Site NA11,602 in central Arizona

were examined for pollen and macrofloral remains, including charcoal. The

roasting/cooking area consists of a central, cobble-filled roasting pit

surrounded by an oval-shaped, prepared work area. Pollen and macrofloral

analyses of fill between the central pit and the outer rock ring are used to

provide information concerning plants processed in this area and types of wood

burned as fuel. The question of agave exploitation is of particular interest.
