POLLEN AND MACROFLORAL ANALYSIS AT SITE 48NA2137 IN NATRONA COUNTY, WYOMING

Summary

Samples from a stratigraphic column and from features at Site 48NA2137 in

central Wyoming were examined for pollen, while feature fill was sampled for

macrofloral remains. This site is a multicomponent site with three cultural

components. The lower two components, Cultural Component II and Cultural

Component I, yielded radiocarbon dates of 3750 + 130 BP and 5780 + 70 BP,

respectively. Pollen and macrofloral analyses of feature fill is used to provide

information concerning plant resources utilized at this site. The pollen column

provides a control for interpreting the feature samples, as well as providing

paleoenvironmental information.
