POLLEN AND MACROFLORAL ANALYSIS OF NORTH ANTELOPE CREEK STUDY AREA, EASTERN POWDER RIVER BASIN, WYOMING

Author(s): Linda J. Scott; PaleoResearch Institute

Year: 1983

Summary

Pollen and macrofloral analyses were undertaken in the North Antelope

Creek Study Area in the Eastern Powder River Basin of Wyoming as part of the

Phase II archaeological mitigation program. The sites selected for pollen

analysis include 48C0637, 48CAl13, 48CA1042/l046, and 48CA1049.

Stratigraphic columns were sampled at 48CAl13 and 48CA1042/l046 to provide

paleoenvironmental data. At 48C0637 four hearths (Features B, C, 20, and

51) were analyzed for their pollen content to provide subsistence data for

the site. A single hearth at 48CA1049 was also analyzed for pollen data

relating to subsistence (Table 1).
