POLLEN AND MACROFLORAL ANALYSIS OF 48SW5377

Author(s): Linda J. Scott; PaleoResearch Institute

Year: 1985

Summary

Site 48SW5377 is located approximately 5 miles east of Rock Springs,

Wyoming along Bitter Creek on a stabilized sand dune. The site appears to

represent only a single component, which was dated to 980 + 90 BP. Both

pollen and macrofloral analyses were conducted on samples representing the

cultural component and several features, while the stratigraphic column was

analyzed only for pollen. Pollen analysis of the stratigraphic column was

designed to define the paleoenvironment, while both the pollen and macrofloral

analyses of cultural components and features were aimed at providing

subsistence data.
