POLLEN ANALYSIS AT TWO SITES IN SAND WASH BASIN, SMF1827 AND SMF1818
Author(s): Linda J. Scott; PaleoResearch Institute
Year: 1985
Summary
Sites SMF1827 and SMF18l8 were sampled for pollen to gather both
paleoenvironmental and subsistence data. Both sites are located in the
northwestern portion of Sand Wash Basin in northwestern Colorado. Site
5MT1827 is located near the rim of the basin and was stratigraphically
sampled to collect paleoenvironmental data. In addition, a single ash
pocket was also sampled for pollen. Site 5MT1818 is located approximately 3
miles to the east of SMT1827. Two features were sampled for subsistence
data at this site. Radiocarbon ages of 1800 to 2820 BP were returned for
these sites, indicating Late Archaic occupations.
