POLLEN AND MACROFLORAL ANALYSIS OF FEATURES FROM SITES SRB2727, SRB2728, AND SRB2729 IN NORTHWESTERN COLORADO

Author(s): Linda J Scott; PaleoResearch Institute

Year: 1985

Summary

Pollen and macrofloral analyses were conducted at sites 5RB2727,

SRB2728, and SRB2729 in conjunction with archaeological mitigation. These

three sites are located in the Coal Oil Basin just west of Rangely in Rio

Blanco County. Analysis concentrated on features for the purpose of identifying

any pollen or floral remains associated with cultural activity and to

establish, if possible, whether the features were cultural or natural. The

features sampled appear to be little more than dispersed charcoal stains and

pockets in the soil profiles.
