PALEOENVIRONMENT AND SUBSISTENCE INTERPRETATIONS FROM THE POLLEN AND MACROFLORAL RECORDS AT THE MASSEY DRAW SITE (5JF339)
Author(s): Linda Scott Cummings; PaleoResearch Institute
Year: 1985
Summary
Pollen and macrofloral analyses were conducted in conjunction with
archaeological mitigation at site 5JF339. This site is located along the
hogback of the front range near Massey Draw. The pollen analysis focused on
the recovery of paleoenvironmental data from two pollen columns; one
collected near the creek bank and bone bed, and the other farther up the
hill in the area of the archaeologically defined camp. In addition, several
pollen samples were collected within features or represent washes of
groundstone. These samples were analyzed in an effort to obtain subsistence
data. In addition, six flotation samples were recovered from features at
the site, also in an effort to gather subsistence data.
