Summary

Two samples were taken from Feature I, a hearth or midden, at SRB2574

for the purpose of identifying subsistence or cultural activity. This site

is located in Smizer Gulch on a south-trending finger and small sage flat

immediately north of the confluence of Colorow Gulch and the White River at

an elevation of 5,650 feet. The area in which the site is located is

classified as semi-arid steppe, which is characterized by abundant sunshine,

warm summers, and cold winters. The vegetation at the site is typical of a

shrub association, dominated by sagebrush.
