POLLEN AND MACROFLORAL ANALYSIS OF A HEARTH: ARAPAHOE COUNTY, COLORADO

Author(s): Linda J. Scott; PaleoResearch Institute

Year: 1986

Summary

Pollen and macrofloral analysis were conducted on a single sample from

a hearth within site 5AH366 in the Senac Dam project area in conjunction

with archaeological testing. In addition, a pollen sample from the present

ground surface was examined as a control. This lithic scatter is located on

top of a hill overlooking two drainages in Arapahoe County, to the northeast

and northwest. Surface artifacts indicate that the site probably functioned

as a temporary camp site. Activities appear to have included lithic reduction

and some plant processing, probably associated with daily subsistence.
