POLLEN AND MACROFLORAL ANALYSIS OF PACKRAT MIDDENS AND OLLAS FROM TWO SITES (AZR:I0:30 AND AZR:I0:31) NEAR BLYTHE, ARIZONA
Author(s): Linda Scott Cummings; PaleoResearch Institute
Year: 1987
Summary
Pollen and macrofloral remains of three packrat middens, an olla, resin
from an olla lid, and several control samples were analyzed in conjunction
with archaeological mitigation of two sites, AZR:I0:30(ASM) and
AZR:I0:31(ASM), located near Blythe, Arizona. The data were collected for
the purpose of interpreting the paleoenvironment at the time of occupation.
In addition, data were sought to identify the contents of the two ollas from
different sites. Very little is presently known about the paleoenvironment
or subsistence from this area.
