POLLEN AND MACROFLORAL ANALYSES OF HEARTHS IN SWEETWATER COUNTY, WYOMING

Author(s): Linda Scott Cummings

Year: 1988

Summary

Pollen and macrofloral analyses were conducted on samples from eight archaeological sites along the General Atlantic Pipeline in Sweetwater County, Wyoming. The sites are located in the common sagebrush environment of the Interior Green River Basin in western Wyoming. These sites range in age from 1270 to 7130 BP. The flotation samples were all collected from hearth fills, while pollen samples represent both hearth fills and soil collected adjacent to the hearths. These samples were analyzed in an effort to identify subsistence-related activities at these sites.
