CULTURAL RESOURCE INVESTIGATIONS ON THE KAIBAB PLATEAU, NORTHERN ARIZONA: THE HIGHWAY 67 DATA RECOVERY PROJECT : POLLEN AND MACROFLORAL ANALYSIS
Author(s): Linda Scott Cummings; PaleoResearch Institute
Year: 1988
Summary
Eleven pollen samples representing two stratigraphic columns, three
manos and the present ground surface were analyzed to provide data concerning
the prehistoric environment, as well as subsistence activity. In addition,
eight flotation and seven macrobotanical samples were also analyzed
from features at sites AZ B:8:7 and AZ B:12:3. Analysis of the pollen and
macrofloral remains at these sites was undertaken to determine the feasibility
of employing these analyses for the purpose of reconstructing the
paleoenvironment and prehistoric subsistence base in a modern forested
environment.
