PHYTOLITH ANALYSIS FOR THE STACY/O.H. IVIE RESERVOIR PROJECT, TEXAS
Author(s): Linda Scott Cummings; PaleoResearch Institute
Year: 1988
Summary
Phytolith analysis was undertaken at eleven sites in the Stacy/O.H.
Ivie Reservoir Project Area. The purpose of this analysis was to determine
the feasibility of recovering a sufficient quantity of phytoliths to recommend
a paleoenvironmental study from both feature and stratigraphic contexts
in the project area. Within the confines of limited number of samples per
site, results are presented. Data generated from this phytolith study will
also be used elsewhere to compare with the pollen record. Phytolith samples
represent feature associations, as well as stratigraphic profiles, although
most of the samples submitted for this testing phase analysis represent
feature contexts.
