STRATIGRAPHIC POLLEN ANALYSIS AT 24RBl164, SOUTHEASTERN MONTANA

Summary

Pollen samples were collected from a stratigraphic column at 24RB1164

in the Pine Breaks region of southeastern Montana to provide data for

paleoenvironmental reconstruction. Two distinct cultural levels were noted

representing the Late Archaic and McKean complex. A radiocarbon age of 2570

BP is associated with the Late Archaic occupation, while an age of 3310 ± 90

BP is associated with the McKean occupation.
