POLLEN AND MACROFLORAL ANALYSIS AT PH 303, SOUTHEAST AREA, MCKINLEY MINE, NEW MEXICO
Author(s): Linda Scott Cummings; PaleoResearch Institute
Year: 1989
Summary
Pollen and rnacrofloral analysis undertaken at this Pueblo II site was
designed to address subsistence and agriculture. This site consists of
three loci, including in Locus 1 approximately 6-8 rooms, an L-shaped Pueblo
and a kiva. Loci 2 and 3 are both identified as field houses. Pollen and
macrofloral samples were collected from numerous bins in both masonry and
jacal rooms, while firepits and hearths were sampled for macrofloral
remains. Whole vessels were also washed for pollen. The sampling design
clearly emphasized recovery of economic remains.
