Summary

A single sample from the fill of a caliche hearth at Site LA12275 in New

Mexico was floated to recover charred macrofloral remains. This hearth was part

of a large, widely dispersed prehistoric temporary campsite of undetermined

cultural affiliations. Macrofloral analysis is used to provide information

concerning possible plants processed in the hearth.
