Summary
A red quartzite metate with a single grinding facet was recovered from a ridge top in Moffat County, Colorado. The ground surface of the metate was found face down, and although the metate was recovered from the present day ground surface, it is believed to be in situ. The circumstances of recovery lead to exploratory pollen and starch analysis in an attempt to provide
information regarding the utilization of the artifact.
