POLLEN AND PROTEIN RESIDUE ANALYSIS AT DEADLY DRAW (24RB975), SOUTHEAST MONTANA
Author(s): Linda Scott Cummings; Kathryn Puseman
Year: 1996
Summary
Ten pollen samples and one protein residue sample were examined from Site 24RB975,
an open campsite located near Colstrip, in southeastern Montana. A hearth from the Powers-
Yonkee living surface at this site yielded a radiocarbon age of 3120 + 160 BP (Beta 96750).
Pollen samples represent this living surface, the stratigraphic column above and below this
surface, and off-site control samples. A pottery fragment was analyzed for possible protein
residues in an effort to learn what foods might have been processed in the vessel represented.
