POLLEN AND PHYTOLITH ANALYSIS FOR 15CT32 AND 15CT33, KENTUCKY

Author(s): Linda Scott Cummings; Thomas E. Moutoux

Year: 1998

Summary

Paired pollen and phytolith samples represent stratigraphic sediments at 15Ct32 and

15Ct33. The largest temporal sequence is present at 15Ct32-1/15Ct32-2, where Late Paleoindian,

Early Archaic, Archaic, and Woodland sediments were sampled. Early Archaic and Archaic

sediments were sampled at 15Ct33. Pollen and phytolith records obtained from these sediments

were analyzed to assess past vegetation communities and provide information concerning the

paleoenvironment. Results from these sites are compared with results from 15Cu21 and 15Cu43.
