POLLEN ANALYSIS OF STRATIGRAPHIC SEDIMENTS FROM COOKE'S ISLAND, LAKE CHAMPLAIN, NEW YORK
Author(s): Linda Scott Cummings
Year: 2001
Summary
Five pollen samples were selected from stratigraphic sediments in Boring 4, Transect 7 for
analysis. A radiocarbon age of 1280 ± 60 BP (Beta-150200) was returned on organic silt at a depth
of 290 cm below the surface in Boring 4. Pollen analysis was conducted to establish the viability
of pollen analysis on these types of sediments and to obtain a description of local and regional
vegetation for periods represented by the five samples selected for analysis.
