STRATIGRAPHIC POLLEN ANALYSIS OF SEDIMENTS FROM ADRIAEN'S LANDING, CONNECTICUT
Author(s): Linda Scott Cummings
Year: 2001
Summary
The Adrien's Landing project encompasses portions of the Holocene flood plain along the
Connecticut River in downtown Hartford, Connecticut. This area has seen intensive historic use
and probably was a favored location for Woodland villages between approximately 2000 and 300
years ago. Stratigraphic pollen and phytolith analysis was conducted on sediments from several
cores removed from these flood plains. These sediments are thought to span approximately the
past 12,500 years. Samples were collected from individual strata within the borings, but not at
close intervals.
