MACROFLORAL ANALYSIS OF SAMPLES PRIOR TO RADIOCARBON DATING FOR THE URUNAO BEACH RESORT PROJECT, GUAM

Author(s): Kathryn Puseman

Year: 2003

Summary

Seven samples were submitted from two test pits for the Uranao Beach Resort Project on

the northwest coast of Guam to identify charred material that could be submitted for radiocarbon

analysis. Two of the samples were collected in bulk and floated prior to analysis, while the

remaining five samples were merely water-screened to remove excess sediment. The two test pits

sampled are noted to contain multiple cultural sequences that could range between 400 to 1600

A.D., based on ceramic typology and historic accounts.
